The official logo of the World Assembly of Assyrian Youth (WAAY) is inspired by ancient Mesopotamian mythology and iconography. According to ancient Assyrian tradition, the floral rosette symbolized divinity— namely Ishtar —the goddess of love. This ancient symbol was highly significant among the ancient Assyrians, and was thus, incorporated in palace art and jewelry due to its divine protective properties. Following its adoption by WAAY, the floral rosette as well as its petals came to symbolize young people connected together, forming one cohesive organization. The globe symbol, centered, is a modern addition and represents WAAY’s Assembly, as well as our international member organizations. The logo’s blue color is reminiscent of the Ishtar Gate.
